He will be missed.

The Burnam Environmental Learning Circle

On February 19, 2005 at the Fort Worth Nature Center, The Burnam Environmental Learning Circle was dedicated in tribute to Earl and Alma Burnam and their long time commitment to the environment. The Learning Circle offers an outdoor classroom for learning activities and events at the Hardwicke Center.

Earl Henry Burnam, environmental advocate and retired General Dynamics Engineering Administrative Manager, had a passion for the environment and outdoor activities. He and his family enjoyed camping, hiking, backpacking, canoeing and bird watching.

Earl was particularly concerned about air quality and pollution from motor vehicles, utilities and manufacturers. He also was a committed conservationist, lobbying elected officials and serving on the Executive Committee of the Fort Worth Sierra Club, the Tarrant Coalition for Environmental Awareness, and as Conservation Chair for the Audubon Council of Texas.

The Burnam Environmental Scholarship Fund

In a effort to continue Burnams' educational environmental advocacy, a scholarship fund to aid students in learning activities at the Fort Worth Nature Center was established. Contributions to the Learning Circle and the Burnam Scholarship Fund can be made to the Fort Worth Nature Center at 9601 Fossil Ridge Road, Fort Worth, TX 76135-9148
